Language and Communication Program

This program teaches about the individuality and universality of languages, and the relationships between languages and cultures in multicultural societies, by providing knowledge pertaining to linguistics, literature, and cross-cultural studies. It develops individuals who can appropriately use languages in modern multicultural societies by deepening their understanding of the cultures of Western and Chinese-speaking countries.

Features

The Language and Communication Program teaches about the individuality and universality of languages, and the relationships between languages and cultures in multicultural societies.

While placing the focus on Japanese, English, and Chinese, this program develops individuals who perceive language systematically, and appropriately understand the mechanisms and functions of language, which is essential for communication. Regarding this program, if you have acquired all the credits necessary for obtaining a teacher’s license (including teaching practice), you will be able to obtain a high-school teacher’s license (English) after graduation. Furthermore, this program will enable you to acquire a basic Japanese Language Teacher Qualification.

* If you wish to both acquire the license and participate in the medium- to long-term exchange program, you will have to choose from one of the following options: (i) participating in a half-year exchange program during the second semester of the second grade, and acquiring the credits necessary for obtaining the license in the remaining two years (graduation in 4 years); (ii) participating in a half-year or a one-year exchange program in the third grade, and acquiring the necessary credits after returning from the exchange program (graduation in 5 years).
